Bomb Planted at MLK Day Parade in Spokane, WA

January 19, 2011

A backpack containing an explosive device capable of causing multiple casualties was found along the parade route at Monday’s Martin Luther King Day celebration parade in Spokane, WA.

The backpack, which also contained shrapnel designed to increase the potential of harm, was placed on a bench in front of a brick wall along the parade route. Two tee shirts that were found inside the pack with the bomb may be helpful in finding whomever is responsible. One of the tees came from a Relay for Life event held in my home town of Colville, which is about 70 miles north of Spokane.

F.B.I. officials have stated that the bomb had the capability of causing “multiple casualties.”

There is a $20,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of whoever commited this act of terrorism. Hmmm, that sounds enticing. Maybe I can put my love of Monk to good use and do some amateur sleuthing.

 I better go.
