Oil Rig Disaster in Louisiana Could Affect Oil Drilling Policy in the U.S.

April 23, 2010

Of course this environmental disaster should be considered as the U.S. looks to exploit the oil reserves off our coasts. Never forget the Exxon Valdez and the destruction to peoples’ livlihoods and to the wildlife in Prince William Sound. It looks like this ship that sunk off the coast of Louisiana could unleash 300,000 gallons of crude oil a day! Let us hope and pray that oil does not leak from its hull and if it does, let’s hope it won’t  reach the coast of Louisiana.

I plan to blog more on this issue as advocates of domestic drilling  need to hear about the serious down-sides to off-shore drilling. We don’t have to look far for evidence of that. Sarah Palin could do wonders for our energy future if she put her energy into conservation. That is the easiest and cheapest way to stop our dependence on fossil fuels, both foreign and domestic.

We lived in San Diego when the Valdez came in for repairs/retrofits—I could not get over how HUGE that tanker was.
IMO—I think the offshore drilling is nuts—we have plenty of places ON LAND to drill from and not risk our oceans. But then, the big OIL DICKS would not make as much money, so what do they do…? Outsource and risk our oceans for their GREED!

lisa, thanks for your comment. If they made those ships double-hulled, we could avoid some of the destruction. But really, cutting consumption is the best way, imo.

I think we should offshore drill more.
Of course, I have never been accused of being rational.

lol mj. I am learning that about you. You seem more focused on some issues and on others you seem to have opinion without thorough analysis. If you look at an issue without reacting to it, you might find yourself loosening up on some of your positions. It will be of great advantage to hit people with FACTS when trying to make a point. You should try it. I can help you!

    Rose, tsk tsk tsk.
I react to evil and target it to polarize it.
