Civil Unrest in the U.S.A.~ IED Found at Fed Bldg. Spokane, WA

April 7, 2010

I just saw this article in my local daily rag from Spokane. An explosive device was found at the Federal Court House on March 28. The public was only informed about it today. No word yet on any suspects. My guess is a disgruntled citizen, or a group of citizens. I’m playing it safe and not guessing their affiliations. It could be a number of possibilities.

Feds investigating IED found at downtown courthouse

Authorities didn’t alert public after discovery 10 days ago

The Spokesman-Review

Federal authorities are investigating the discovery 10 days ago of an improvised explosive device found next to the Thomas S. Foley U.S. Courthouse in downtown Spokane but had not alerted the public until today based upon a direct inquiry by The Spokesman-Review.

The device was located in the late evening of Sunday, March 28, said Tom Rice, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington.

“I will be guarded in what I say. We would confirm that a device was located. But that’s as far as we are going to go,” Rice said. “The appropriate people in the courthouse were notified.” The public wasn’t notified “because we didn’t want to compromise the active investigation.”

No arrests have been made, and Rice would not comment about what type of device it was or any potential suspects.

“Those are sensitive details that remain private in order to further the investigation,” Rice said.
